Saint Louis Statue
This photo I took is capturing one of the symbols of St.Louis, the person who the city got its name from, Crusader King Louis IX. I’m not a fan of the crusades, cause they killed thousands upon thousands of Jews, and Muslims. But I’m not a fan of any type of war when it comes to killing in the name of religion, for the name of religion, and no other reasons. I condemn Muslims for the Armenian genocides in the late 1800’s and in the early 1900’s, and because they don’t teach this in Turkey, and therefore history is determined to repeat itself. Again self-defense/self-preservation is another whole different story. But this topic can go on for a very long time, and no religion can say it has no stains, but that’s not the true purpose of this thread.
The purpose is just to show some fabulous artwork from Saint Louis. The statue where the photo was taken was outside the St.Louis Art museum in St.Louis (Dedicated in 1904 at the World’s Fair), which resides in the areas prettiest park if you ask me (Forest Park), which also houses the History museum, the Jewel Box Building, the Muny, and the Zoo, and so much more. Also the same area I took the Hot air balloon pics.
I’ve taken lots of pics of this, some on pretty days, some at night, but I really enjoy these that were taken on a cloudy day, right before the rains came.
Some different photos I took and wanted to add them to this. Some more info:
The St. Louis Art Museum was founded in 1879 as the City Art Museum and in 1907 moved to a Beaux Arts style building designed by American architect Cass Gilbert for the 1904 World’s Fair. The current name (The St.Louis Art Museum) was adopted in 1972. Forest Park has to be one of my favorite places to visi, but there are so many other great places to see as well in St.Louis.
