WKLS31.DLL Error………..ERRRrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrr….
I’m writing this in regards to saving other people some headaches, as Microsoft is pretty useless when it comes to this error.
If you own MS works suite 2006, it comes with Word 2002. The problem is, it cannot read any wps files. WPS files are made by MS Works, and are not part of the Word family. Most other Word software seems not to have this problem, and if they do, there is a fix for it, but not for the MS Works Suite 2006. Oh here’s the solution (converter) for everyone else.
Now from what I’ve understand, the stand alone product of Word 2002 doesn’t seem to have this problem (But I’m not 100% sure, just from talking to others), but those who have the Suite 2006, do have this problem, running on XP. The only solutions I found to this, is either upgrading to 2003 Word or higher(The Stand alone software, not the suites), then downloading the converter if necessary, or purchasing Works (The Cheapest), then open the files that are in wps format, then save them as a .doc file, so word can open them.
For some the error will come up as, “The specific module could not be found WKLS31.dll” Others will get a blank white page in Word. But I just wanted to share this info, as there really isn’t any answer out there on this. Hope it helps.
PS Remember MS Work Suites and MS Works are different, the suites come with Word, and Works (By itself) come with a basic word processor that saves in wps formats, which is not made for Word.

Just a quick thought on this all
Just wanted to add, this is nothing more than a ploy, to get people to buy an outdated program that is no where near as good as the others, so you end up spending money on two products, and keeping an outdated program alive. The only person who profits from this financially is the one who owns such products.;) But we’re just as bad, for buying both indeed, even though I try to justify it by saying, I had thousands of pieces of work on it that I didn’t want to lose, so if buying it is all that I can do, it’s worth the $25 or so. But this is screwed up, it shouldn’t even matter if I loss all of my earlier work or not, but it should be about ethics and morals, it seems that’s a hard concept to find in the super wealthy, after all, how else do you make that from nothing? Again, I’m not saying having money is a bad thing, it’s just where you put it on the scale of things. And it’s harder for a man in business to do that which is right, cause his business is dictated by making money, so you almost have to have that frame of mind, again not to say everyone is like this, but the majority is louder than the minority, until True Law is handed down.
But anyway, just reflecting back on this, and so I answered myself with amusement;).
